Murrayfield offers a wide range of skating lessons, including lessons that are specifically tailored to ice-hockey. The first step for your child to attend our hockey skating classes which run on a Friday afternoon at Murrayfield Ice Rink from 6pm to 7pm and are run by our head coach Mark Hay.
Mark assesses the skating ability on a weekly basis until each child is of a level were he can join in with ice hockey sessions. You can just turn up your child at the box office ask you to fill in a short form with your details. Hockey skates are essential for these classes.
When you child has progressed in his skating ability, the coaches will ask you to join the club.

The Murrayfield Junior Ice Hockey Club caters for boys and girls of all ages and abilities, and is always very happy to welcome new players.

The club can arrange tryouts for newcomers at any time throughout the hockey season. The tryouts are very informal, and give newcomers the chance to join in with a training session, as well as allowing the coaches to decide where best to place the new player.
To enjoy ice hockey, players do need to be fairly competent skaters. If appropriate, the coach may recommend some initial skating lessons.
